Updated March 2026 — Zero Referral Fee Expansion
Amazon India Seller Fee Calculator
We've worked with hundreds of Amazon sellers and the single biggest problem we see isn't poor products — it's pricing based on guesswork. This calculator gives you the exact breakdown before you list a single unit.

How This Amazon Fee Calculator Works
Most sellers we speak to have a rough sense of Amazon's referral fees — but the real margin killers are the fees they don't see coming. The closing fee. The weight handling charge. The GST on fees. Together, these can push your total Amazon deductions well past 30% of revenue before you've even accounted for your product cost.
This calculator adds all of it up correctly. Enter your selling price, category, fulfilment method and product weight — and you'll get a line-by-line breakdown of exactly what Amazon keeps and exactly what lands in your bank.
Net Profit = Selling Price
− Referral Fee (Selling Price × Category %)
− Closing Fee (Fixed per price slab)
− Weight Handling / Shipping Fee
− GST on Fees (18%) [optional]
− Packaging Cost [optional]
− COGS / Product Cost
Bank Settlement = Selling Price − All Amazon Fees
Big Change: Zero Referral Fees Expanded to ₹1,000 — March 2026
As of 16th March 2026, Amazon India expanded zero referral fees to over 12.5 crore products priced under ₹1,000 across 1,800+ categories — a 10x expansion from the previous ₹300 limit. If your product is in Apparel, Footwear, Home, Beauty, Toys, or dozens of other categories and priced under ₹1,000, you now pay zero referral fees. The calculator reflects this automatically.
The Insight Most Sellers Miss
Even with zero referral fees, you still pay closing fee + weight handling on Easy Ship. For a ₹299 T-shirt, that's roughly ₹5 + ₹29 = ₹34 in unavoidable fees before your product cost. On a ₹150 sourcing cost, that's already 25% of your selling price gone. The math only works if your COGS is lean or your MRP is higher.
FBA Sellers: Don't Forget Pick & Pack + Storage
FBA adds a pick & pack fee (approx ₹14–₹40 per unit depending on size) and monthly storage fees on top of weight handling. For slow-moving inventory, storage can silently erode margins. We've seen brands with healthy gross margins end up at negative net margins purely because of FBA storage buildup. Use FBA for fast-moving SKUs. Self-ship or Easy Ship for slower ones.

These aren't generic FAQs — they're the actual questions sellers ask us when they're trying to figure out if Amazon is working for them.
Are products under ₹1,000 really zero referral fee now?
As of 16th March 2026, yes — Amazon India expanded zero referral fees to over 12.5 crore products priced under ₹1,000 across 1,800+ categories. Categories covered include Apparel, Footwear, Home & Kitchen, Beauty, Toys, Grocery, Pet Supplies, and many more. However, you still pay the closing fee and weight handling fee — those aren't zero. The referral fee (Amazon's commission cut) is what's been eliminated for qualifying products. It's a significant change and genuinely improves margins for fashion and lifestyle sellers especially.
Easy Ship vs FBA — which one is actually cheaper?
It depends entirely on your product and sales velocity. Easy Ship is cheaper on a per-unit basis because you avoid pick & pack fees and storage charges. But FBA unlocks Prime eligibility, which typically converts 30–40% better — meaning you sell more units. If your product moves fast and your margins support the FBA premium, FBA often wins on total profit. If your product is slow-moving, bulky, or seasonal, Easy Ship or Self Ship is usually the smarter call. We model both scenarios for every brand we onboard.
What is the closing fee on Amazon and why does it matter?
The closing fee is a flat charge Amazon applies per unit sold, based on your selling price range and fulfilment method. For a ₹299 item on Easy Ship, that's ₹5. For a ₹799 item, it's ₹30. What makes it matter is that it's fixed regardless of selling price within a slab. So for lower-priced items, it represents a disproportionately large percentage of revenue. A seller pricing at ₹250 and a seller pricing at ₹249 are in different closing fee slabs — a ₹1 difference in MRP can mean a ₹4 difference in closing fee per unit.
How is Amazon weight handling fee calculated?
Amazon uses whichever is higher — actual weight or volumetric weight. Volumetric weight = (Length × Width × Height in cm) ÷ 5000. This catches a lot of sellers off guard. A lightweight but bulky item like a pillow or lamp might be billed at 3x its actual weight. The fee also depends on delivery zone — local, regional, or national. Easy Ship national shipping starts at ₹65 for items under 500g as of April 2025. Always calculate using volumetric weight when your packaging has any significant dimensions.
What total percentage does Amazon take from a typical sale?
For a ₹799 fashion item on Easy Ship (standard zone), a typical seller pays: zero referral (under ₹1,000) + ₹30 closing fee + ~₹44 weight handling = roughly ₹74 total, or about 9% of revenue. The same item on FBA would be ₹40 closing + ₹44 shipping + ~₹25 pick & pack = ₹109, or about 14%. Above ₹1,000, add the referral fee back in. For high-price electronics at ₹4,999 with an 8% referral fee, total Amazon deductions including closing and shipping can run 15–20% easily. Knowing your exact number before listing is non-negotiable.
When does Amazon pay sellers in India?
Amazon India disburses payments to sellers on a 7-day settlement cycle for most fulfilment methods. The settlement is calculated after deducting all fees, refunds, and chargebacks. Easy Ship and Self Ship sellers typically see funds within 7 days of confirmed delivery. FBA sellers follow the same cycle. If you have returns or A-to-Z claims pending, those amounts may be withheld until resolved.
Should I use a professional seller account on Amazon India?
If you're selling more than 40 units a month, yes — always. The Professional selling plan gives you access to Amazon Ads (Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands), Brand Registry eligibility, bulk listing tools, brand analytics, and A+ content. Individual accounts can't run ads, which means you're completely dependent on organic ranking. At any real volume, the monthly subscription cost is negligible compared to what you gain in visibility and conversion tools.
